Fellowships

Candidates having M.Phil. in Population Studies, M.Phil in Bio-statistics & Demography, Master of Population Studies (MPS), MA/MSc in Population Studies, M.Sc in Bio-statistics & Demography from a recognized university with at least 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade are eligible to apply.

1. M.A./M.Sc.in Population Studies The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test across India. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of basic general knowledge, logical reasoning, English grammar, basic mathematics, population, health, and social science issues. Admission test will not be conducted for the foreign candidates and admission will be offered directly if foreign candidates fulfill the eligibility criteria of the Institute. Rs. 5,000/- per month
2. M.Sc.in Bio-statistics and Demography The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of basic general knowledge, logical reasoning, English Grammar, Population, Health and Statistics/Mathematics. Admission test will not be conducted for the foreign candidates and the admission will be offered directly if the foreign candidates fulfil the eligibility criteria of the Institute. 3. Masters in Population Studies (M.P.S.) The admission to M.P.S. course is through a two-stage process: online test and personal interview. The online entrance test will comprise objective-type questions of multiple choices. The entrance test will consist of questions on basic general knowledge, logical reasoning, English grammar, basic Mathematics, Population, Health and Social Science issues. Based on the performance in the online test, shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIPS. Final selection will be based on the weighted average of the scores of the online test and personal interview. Rs. 5,000/- per month

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Population Studies/Biostatistics and Demography

 

The admission to Ph.D. programme is through a three-stage process: online test, research proposal writing, and personal interview. The online entrance test will consist of objective-type questions of multiple choices. The online entrance test will consist of questions on English, Logical Reasoning, Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Population Studies, Demography, and Epidemiology. Based on the performance in the online test, shortlisted candidates will be called for research proposal writing and personal interview at IIPS. Final selection will be based on the weighted average of the scores of the online test, research proposal writing, and personal interview. Rs. 31,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs. 35,000/- per month for 3rd and 4th years available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for Lectureship in population or its interdisciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC. Such Ph.D. fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year for the first 2 years and Rs. 20,500/- per year for the third year. However the candidates, without NET qualification shall be awarded fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs. 14,000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th years, with a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- per year. In addition, UGC-JRF and other fellowship holders will also be considered for admission as per availability of seats.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship (P.D.F.)

Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Population Studies or subjects related with Population, Health, Gender, Development and Social Sciences are eligible to apply. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission, provided they secure financial support from any outside agency. Female candidates are encouraged to apply for the P.D.F.

The selected Indian candidates will be awarded Government of India fellowship @Rs. 50,000/- plus HRA per month for one year.
