Abstract Content (not more than 300 word, should include: Introduction, Objective, Methodology, critical findings & Conclusion):
Social protection plays a pivotal role in ensuring dignity, security, and well-being during old age. This study examines the impact of social protection measures on elderly care, with specific reference to mental health, emotional stability, and life satisfaction. Primary data were collected through structured interviews with 50 elderly participants in Bhopal, capturing their experiences with family support, community networks, and government welfare schemes. Methodology: A qualitative descriptive design was adopted. Semi-structured interviews were conducted among elders aged 60 years and above, representing diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Data were analyzed thematically to identify common challenges and coping strategies. Findings: The study revealed that financial insecurity, limited mobility, and social isolation were major stressors among participants. While government pension and health schemes provided partial relief, the adequacy and accessibility of these measures remained limited. Family support, particularly from children and extended kin, emerged as the most crucial source of care and protection. Conclusion: Social protection mechanisms significantly influence the quality of elderly care. Strengthening pension schemes, enhancing healthcare access, and promoting family and community awareness are essential to reduce vulnerability. A balanced approach that integrates state welfare with family and community-based care can ensure holistic well-being for the elderly in Bhopal and beyond.
