2.    0910 Verbal Autopsy

  •    SAGE Wave 3 has used the 2012 version of the WHO VAQ. The same version used during SAGE Wave 2.
  •    SAGE has opted to use the VAQ instrument for death of person in the household  aged 50 years or more at the time of death
  •    Verbal Autopsy-2012 version has 192 cause of death related indicators, subdivided into 4 sections and 118 subgroups.

3.    Individual Schedule

1000 Socio-Demographic Characteristics :

  •    This section provides information on different background characteristics and gives an indication of income and socio-economic status of respondents.

2000 Health State Description:

>   This section asks questions about overall health.  It  covers  all  aspects  of  physical  and  mental health, including:

2500 Anthropometrics, Performance Tests & Biomarkers

A critical objective of incorporating a biomarker module in SAGE is to compare and measure prevalence of health conditions with self-reported prevalence.
